First match in a best of five series for the Istanbul Handicap Go Champion Title ends

The Istanbul Go Championship Title match, which was established in 2014 to find the best player to utilize handicap in Istanbul, is a best of five series. The title will be shelved after this year's installment and a new system consisting of only a final invitational tournament will be put in place.
The challenger comes from a preliminary tournament where 8 participants are selected based on their performance and participation in the biweekly Istanbul City Tournaments through the year.
The first match was played in the Japanese Culture and Information Center in Taksim, Istanbul, right after the Istanbul Go Champion Title Match.
Özgür Değirmenci (the defending champion for the last 5 years 4 dan EGF) was challenged by Barkın Çelebican (1 dan EGF), with White being played by the current champion.
The game 3 stone handicapped game ended with a 13.5 point win for White.

The next match in the series will be held on June 8th.
