First match in a best of five series for the Istanbul Go Champion Title ends

The Istanbul Go Championship Title match, which was established in 2013 to crown the Istanbul City Go Tournaments, is a best of five series to decide the strongest local player. The title will be shelved after this year's installment and a new system consisting of only a final invitational tournament will be put in place.
The challenger comes from a preliminary tournament where 8 participants are selected based on their performance and participation in the biweekly Istanbul City Tournaments through the year.
The first match was played in the Japanese Culture and Information Center in Taksim, Istanbul.
Özgür Değirmenci (the defending champion for the last 5 years 4 dan EGF) was challenged by Barkın Çelebican (1 dan EGF), with White being played by the current champion.
The game ended after a big loss resulting in resignation by Black.

The next match in the series will be held on June 8th.
